Uranium Resources plc, the AIM listed uranium exploration and development company, has appointed James Pratt to its Board as a non-executive Director. Mr. Pratt replaces Leon Pretorius who is stepping down from the Board with immediate effect due to other business commitments. Mr. Pratt's appointment complements the Company's strategy of assembling a board with the experience and expertise to acquire and invest in uranium projects with key focus on known deposits in Southern Africa and Australia.
James Pratt is a geologist with over 18 years' experience in the mining and exploration industry, principally in Australia and Africa. He is Managing Director of Leopard Minerals plc, an unlisted public company, which is exploring for copper and gold in Kyrgyzstan. Previously he was Managing Director at Deep Yellow Limited, an ASX listed uranium exploration company with projects in Australia. Other positions held include Managing Director of Green Rock Energy Limited, a geothermal exploration company listed on the ASX exchange. Mr. Pratt has previously worked on a consultancy basis for Uranium Resources.
Uranium Resources Director Ross Warner said: 'James has many years experience in the mining and exploration sector. James helped us acquire our Tanzanian exploration projects, where we are about to start an extensive field work programme following positive assay results. Additionally, we continue to evaluate other potential acquisitions and remain focussed on building the Company into a significant uranium company and driving shareholder value.
'I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Leon Pretorius for his support through the Company's first phase, and wish him well in the future.
Leon Pretorius is cancelling his 10 million share option with Uranium Resources.
